This site collects almost nothing.

In short

• There is no analytics script, no advertising, and no third-party tracker on this site.
• No advertising cookies are set. Small browser-storage values remember your theme, dismissed notices, and the opening animation.
• The enquiry form does not send anything to a server. It opens your own email app with the message prepared.
• If you use the assistant, your message is sent to the site server and the configured AI provider so a reply can be generated.
• If you email, that email is held in an ordinary mailbox and used only to answer you.

The enquiry form

The form on the contact page does not submit to any server. When you press the button, the details you typed are assembled into a mailto: link and handed to whichever email application your device uses. Nothing is transmitted to abatchan.com, and nothing is stored by this website.

The message is only sent if you then send it yourself from your own email client. At that point it becomes ordinary email correspondence, covered by the retention section below.

Stored in your browser

A few small values are kept locally on your device:

• Theme preference: in localStorage, so the site opens in the light or dark mode you chose. If you have never used the toggle, nothing is stored and your operating system setting is followed instead.
• Dismissed announcements: in localStorage, keyed to the announcement ID, so a notice you close stays closed on that device.
• Intro and navigation state: in sessionStorage, so the opening animation does not replay on every page and page transitions behave correctly. This is cleared when you close the tab.

You can clear these values at any time through your browser's site-data controls, with no effect other than the intro playing again.

Hosting and server logs

This site is hosted on Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel processes the technical information needed to deliver a page, such as IP address, request time, requested URL, and user-agent string. Supabase provides the public project and settings data used by the work, announcements, and assistant controls. These services may keep standard security and operational logs under their own policies.

The assistant counts questions so that one visitor cannot use up the day for everyone else. Your IP address is not stored. It is combined with the current date and a secret key and reduced to a one-way hash, and that hash is what the counter is keyed to; because the date is part of it, one day's hash cannot be linked to the next. Each counter holds nothing but a date and a number, and stale ones are deleted once the date changes.

Third parties

Fonts, icons, and brand assets are served from this domain rather than a CDN, so loading a page does not tell anyone else that you visited. Social icons in the footer are inline graphics, not embedded widgets; they are plain links and do not load or report anything until you click them.

External links are governed by the destination site's policy once you follow them. If you open the assistant and send a message, the text and current page path are sent through the Vercel function to DeepSeek so it can generate a reply. Do not put passwords, payment details, or other secrets into the chat.

Retention

Email correspondence is kept for as long as needed to answer you and, where a project follows, for the ordinary business and accounting reasons that apply to a completed engagement. Enquiries that do not lead to work are deleted once they are clearly no longer relevant.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data is held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, or to object to its use. For abatchan, this mainly concerns email correspondence. Browser-storage values stay on your own device and can be cleared in your browser.

Ask by email and it will be handled without charge. There is no account to close and no marketing list to leave, because neither exists.

Changes

If this site starts doing something it does not do today (analytics, a real form endpoint, a newsletter) this page will be updated before that change goes live, and the date at the top will change with it.
